According to  Comics Continuum the “Angel: After the Fall” comic series has been assigned a November release date, that should help get us through the long cold winter nights!

If you head on over to the A.V. Club (part of the Onion News group), they have an excellent three page interview with Joss Whedon covering a lot of information about his current projects, there’s even a decent amount of coverage on the “Goners” film, though no new revelations.

Just before heading to San Diego, Whedon spoke with The A.V. Club about his current and upcoming comics projects, his film project Goners, the status of Serenity, why spoilers are ruining our culture, and his much-publicized work on—and break from—the Wonder Woman film project

If you head on over to Amazon they have a ten minute ‘phone interview with Joss as part of the promotion for the release of the new Collectors Edition of Serenity due out later this month, it’s well worth a listen.

Joss reveals some more information as to what we can look forward to in this version, it seems that the additional commentary is actually going to be screen-in-screen rather than just audio, so we will get to see some of our Big Damn Heroes again!

According to TV Squad and their report from San Diego’s ComicCon, Joss has reported that negotiations are almost complete with the BBC to make a 90 minute special of the long-awaited “Ripper”, starring my favourite watcher, Anthony Stewart Head.

There is plenty of other Joss news reported, but this was the one that got my attention. Also check out the Whedon ballet starring Summer Glau.

Joss “The Boss” Whedon has taken some time out to answer fan questions over at the MySpace comic book site. It’s only a few minutes long but as usual with Joss Whedon it is well worth a look, though he is still dodging the “Goners” questions Gorram it!

According to their site:

This is a Brian Vaughn issue, the first one of this series not to be written by Joss himself, so it will be interesting to see what Vaughn does with this.

It seems impossible to think that just 10 years ago a TV series had no purpose other than to tell you a story each week. Character arcs were just about unheard of, other than in soaps, as the ’story’ was all.

Some tried to mix things up a little, Star Trek: DS9 being one of my favourites of its time, but it was not until Joss Whedon came along that the way TV was made really began to change, until we reach the point today where it is almost impossible to find a show that doesn’t to some degree try to give their characters an arc of some kind.

Gone are the days of Columbo and The Rockford Files which, though they had great characters, never allowed their characters to learn, now we have the CSI franchise and Bones where the characters arc is as important as the story.

We see this also in the new Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who, revamped series that have gained much from the changes in storytelling brought about by Joss.

The TV Show Blog has an excellent article exploring the Joss Effect, looking at how much we have gained because of this, even though the storyline’s can at times put us through the emotional wringer.

TV characters used to be static, no matter how bad things got through the course of the episode, you knew deep down that by the end everything would be tied up nicely and back to normal, your friends on the screen would be fine and ready for more by next week. Not so anymore. For me, as the title indicates, this really started with Joss Whedon and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, one could make an argument for Star Trek: The Next Generation but it was just too sterile to have an impact (and don’t get me wrong I like my Next Gen.).

Would you like to see ‘Firefly’ as you have never seen it before, in High Definition?

Well you can this July if you have the cable television network Universal HD. Unfortunately I don’t. They have also opened up a webpage and message board to mark the event.

Lets hope that this means that at some point we will get to see a Hi-Def version of ‘Firefly’ on DVD. Wouldn’t that be just shiny?

Issue four of Dark Horse’s new “Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Eight” series has been on the stands since Wednesday, but all sorts of last-minute stuff – mounting piles of pilots and Galactica and Jericho and Veronica – kept me out of the comic-book stores until a few hours ago. But I’ve now read and digested the wonderful “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” 8.4, which successfully concludes writer/mastermind Joss Whedon’s excellent initial “season-eight” arc.

Over at Fractal Matter they have an excellent interview with Brian Lynch looking at his work on the ‘Spike’ comic series and talking about the upcoming “Angel:Season 6″, let’s hope that this project is as big a success as the “Buffy comics.

I think what we have planned is gonna knock people down, steal their wallets, pick them up, dust them off, fix their hair, give them a hoagie and a ride to the nearest carnival, accompany them on the tilt-a-whirl, hold their hair when they get sick, and pay for cab fare home. It’s THAT much fun.
