Firefly Has A “Second Life”
April 10, 2007 by StevieB
I’m not overly familiar with “Second Life“, an Internet-based virtual world that has become very popular of late, but it seems there are a few Joss Whedon fans who have set up a bit of a community there, in Washtown! I guess Jaynestown was a bit too obvious.
According to nwn.blogs.com, if you are a part of Second Life you can head on over to Washtown and get a special freebie courtesy of Quantam Mechanix Inc.
Washtown is an area
in Second Life built by fans of the television series Firefly (and movie
Serenity), Joss Whedon’s critically acclaimed (but cut short and cancelled)
science fiction series.Enter Quantum Mechanix Inc.,
makers of licensed collectibles and replicas, who are publishing a limited
edition book of Serenity blueprints. You can go see their display just outside
of Washtown, pick up the free promo book in-world, and wander through Washtown
itself, and enjoy the detail and care that has gone into its making. |
